Malawi

This small landlocked country is one of Africas smaller countries. Of its 117000 Sq. Kms. roughly 20% is taken up by Lake Malawi . This great lake is the third largest in Africa and the ninth largest in the world. From north to south it measures nearly 600 kilometers and at its widest point is 85 kilometers while the deepest part is 700 meters. In the south, Lake Malawi flows into the River Shire. It continues for about 500 kms. along the Rift Valley before joining with the Zambezi River . Most of the country lies in the Rift Valley with Tanzania to the north, Zambia to the west, while Mozambique makes up the south and eastern borders. Malawi has a population of about eleven million, which is mainly composed of various African tribes from other parts of Africa . Malawi has not suffered the scourges of war and civil strife which has plagued most of its neighbours.

The “Warm Heart of Africa,” as it is called, will be seen by the friendliness of its people. A true experience. The sights to be seen are numerous from 3000 meter mountains to the tranquility of the lakeshore. Many national parks, good accommodation and not the mass of tourism seen by its neighbours. This is true Africa . The warm heart of Africa.
